I saw some excellent theater this weekend - PRIVATE LIVES in New York, ONCE IN A LIFETIME in Williamstown, QUARTET at the Berkshire Theatre Festival - but none of the performances compared to this one I saw at Joe's Pub on Friday. Richard Thompson's "1000 Years of Popular Music" was informative, refreshing, original, moving, funny, and incredibly entertaining. And it even included a few songs that have made it to Broadway...
