 All-American tuners roll out on road Producers strive to get shows to audsBarry Weissler likes to remind people that he began his career as a road mogul with a couple of actors and an old station wagon. As he tried to get "South Pacific" sailing toward Bloomington, Ind., Weissler found himself on the dusty road again.
"We're going back to the old days of touring," a weary Weissler said last week, having failed to secure flights for any of his company out of New York and resorted to busing everyone to Indiana. There were other "South Pacific" complications, too.
Director Scott Feris was supposed to be flying in and out and then leaving to direct "Chicago" in Manchester, England. And creative consultant Jerry Zaks had commitments in New York.
With planes barely in the air, Weissler was scrambling.

Confirmed: Equity, Local 1 and Local 802 are meeting today at 3pm to determine what to do about the long-running, non-Disney Broadway shows. The options include: cast, crew and orchestra taking pay cuts, temporarily closing the shows, reducing the number of performances, or permanently closing. The theatre owners and vendors are helping reduce costs by reducing or removing rental costs.
Broadway is one of the largest economic draws that the city has - go see a show and support our community.

I've been told that the producers of Rent, Les Miserables, Phantom and Chicago are having a meeting today at 3PM. They will be discussing the future of their shows. This is unconfirmed.

Regarding Tommy Hollis, I am sorry to have to inform you that he passed away on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001.
I work for Benjamin Mordecai (producer of August Wilson's plays), and our office received a call from Tommy Hollis's manager this past week telling us that Mr. Hollis had a fatal heart attack the previous Saturday.
