Bush arrested for drunken driving near his family summer home in Kennebunkport, Maine. As a candidate Bush tried to keep the incident secret, but a Portland, OR television reporter discovered the arrest days before the election. His blood alcohol level was 0.10, legally drunk. It was also revealed that Bush's V.P. candidate, Dick Cheney, had arrests for drunken driving in both 1962 and 1963.
