So the Saigon Gala last night was the place to be. Especially with Catherine. We really needed Forrest with his camera. Spoke to Matt Sklar and Peter Filichia for a brief moment. Matt mentioned that Rhythm Club is doing well. Peter is simply the nicest person paying a compliment to this website. Edgar Dobie was certainly the tallest person in the theatre last night... Vinnie Liff led the standing ovation and Tara Rubin has a snazzy new haircut. Susan Stroman was also there and she looked great. Ruthie Henshall held court from her seat where everyone came by and told her how wonderful she is. Stewart Lane worked the crowd while Matt Bogart chatted up the beautiful people. Christiane Noll sat in the back of the orchestra and giggled as cast members chewed on the scenery in the American Dream sequence during the show.

After the show Hinton Battle started to read a list of the 310 cast members who have done the show. Thankfully, he stopped after 10 members or so and was joined on stage by Liz Callaway and Willy Falk. The three of them then did a soul version of This Is The Hour, joined by the entire company and previous Broadway cast members.

After that, Jonathan Pryce took the stage and did The American Dream. When the car rolled out from upstage, it was being driven by Cameron Mackintosh and filled with the creative team. Cameron made introductions and Jonathan pointed out 4 (5?) cast members who have been there since opening night. Then Cameron made his announcement that Saigon is extending for one month with Lea Salonga. Followed by confetti/streamer cannons which covered The Broadway Theatre in paper that would make Blue Man Group blush. To end the night, there was a balloon drop with "Saigon 4000" printed on them. Fans can probably buy them on eBay right now. It was a great evening.

Speaking of Cameron Mackintosh, did you hear the news on WITCHES?

And good news does still come via snail mail: congrats go to Jonathan Karp who moves to Scott Rudin Productions as VP of Production, as of Dec 11th...

The Seussical loadin is somewhat of a cartoon in it of itself. It seems as though they just keep bringing things into the theatre, as of late last night. One wonders if there will be enough room for the actors on stage!

Entertainment Weekly has a review of the Seussical website in this week's print issue. (Some one please point out the irony that their reviews of websites are not on their website!) Seussical.com seems to be the first website that is on par with a Hollywood movie website -- that is good news for everyone as the bar is raised. Congrats to Tarantula, the firm that did Seussical.com.
