First night review: Keira Knightley has a flawless face... and all the charisma of a goldfish by Quentin Letts

Miss Knightley has a flawless face but it does not move about much. In a film actress this is often an advantage but on stage it is a snag. It's like giving a carpenter a blunt chisel.

THE MISANTHROPE - Review By Paul Callan

Director Thea Sharrock keeps the action cracking along and lets the crisp jokes flow easily.
But it is Damian Lewis's evening and another milestone in his career. It is just rather sad that the heart-wrenchingly beautiful Miss Knightley does not quite come up to scratch.

Ernest In Love
Review by Matthew Murray

Librettist-lyricist Anne Croswell and composer Lee Pockriss's unbelievably faithful take on the Oscar Wilde's classic The Importance of Being Ernest, which opened Off-Broadway in 1960, flourishes only and entirely when the original play is allowed its fullest voice. The rest of the time, as Charlotte Moore's new production at the Irish Repertory Theatre proves, it's pleasant, but not much more.

Just the Gist of a Star-Cross'd Tale, by Charles Isherwood

The Nature Theater of Oklahoma's inspired riff on Shakespeare's classic consists of monologues in which people recount all they know about the star-crossed lovers.
