Syringa Tree Named Best Play in 2001 Obie Awards

Although several familiar names appeared on the list of winners, including Mary Louise Parker of Proof, and the late Ed Kleban of A Class Act, the 2001 Obies were remarkable for giving no Best Musical award in a season that has produced such audience-pleasers as Bat Boy and Urinetown.
